Short Stack are a three piece band made up of three really good looking boys from
the N.S.W Central Coast. They are:
Shaun Diviney : Song Writer, Lead Vocals and Guitar
Andy Clemmensen: Plays bass and back-up vocals
Bradie Webb: Plays Drums and Keys to theme tunes.
The band has come a great deal in the four years that they have been together,
meeting on a train on the way to school, it’s the shared interests in music
that helped them form a band.
In the beginning, the boys played a few shows in Newcastle,
which really helped them become the band they are today. Despite the many opportunities
arising in Newcastle they boys were always enthusiastic to play in Sydney. In March 2005
they entered a competition called ‘YOUTHROCK’ and didn’t get past the first round.
Despite this, one year later they entered the competition again and made it to the finals,
to then clean up the title of third in the state.
The age of the three members really restricted them to where they could play, so
they decided to showcase their musical abilities through the internet. Beginning with Myspace,
and their own “Reality TV Show” Short Stack TV. Where they would spend hours on the internet
everyday building up their fan base and making the fans feel as if they were more then ‘just a band.’
They were signed to Sunday Morning Records whilst still at school but still managed to begin playing
bigger shows.
It was in early 2008 when the band uploaded a music video onto youtube for their song “Sway Sway Baby”
that the public started taking notice. They then filmed a music video for “Drop Dead Gorgeous” which
MTV came across. The boys filmed the video exclusively for MTV and very soon every music television
show across Australia started to play the clip.
After this, Short Stack started a small tour, more fans then expected showed up and they
really began to grow as a band. On the 27th of September, 2008 they released their first single
“Shimmy A Go Go” which was a huge success and really showcased their musical abilities to the public eye.
In late 2008 Short Stack picked up the name of “Channel [V]’s OZ Artist of the Year”
Short Stack created band history and decided to hold a Flash Mob at Pitt St Mall, Sydney.
In Mid-February they toured the country with The Veronicas and Metro Station. As
it was hard for the band to do meet and greets at these shows, whilst on tour they also did a
mini instore meet and greet tour along the way. On the 27th of Feb their second single from
their Debut album ‘Stack is the New Black’ ( to be released mid 2009) ‘Princess’ was released and
debuted at number 11. In March they did a small East Coast Tour, for the release of Princess called
the Princess Ball and sold out their shows.
Recently they have announced another tour for the release of Sway Sway Baby ( release date 17/7)
and have got 6 shows lined up for that tour. They also filmed their second film clip for ‘Sway Sway Baby’
and it wrapped up over 100 000 views within the first week of being on you tube.
Short Stack’s rise to
fame has been incredible and without the support of all their fans they wouldn’t have gotten where they
are today. Short Stack are the big thing now, but they’re also the next big thing. That’s their story
in a very shortened version. Keep Supporting such a musically talented bunch of guys!
